Case study: Summerville mobile mechanic
How a one-van shop tripled his traffic in two months. On The Go Mobile Mechanic is a single-van mobile repair business that had a website but almost nothing coming in from search. We audited the site, fixed what was broken, and rebuilt the structure around what people around Summerville actually type into Google. Traffic went from 56 visits in the month before we started to 174 in the first full month after the changes, and the second month is on pace to reach roughly 300. Individual results vary by market, competition, and starting point — this is what happened for this client, not a guaranteed outcome.
Where the account started.
On The Go Mobile Mechanic operates a one-van mobile repair service covering Summerville and the surrounding Charleston metro — brake jobs, battery replacement, diagnostics, and general repair performed at the customer's home or workplace instead of a shop. Before this engagement, the site was a bare-bones single page with no service breakdown, no location targeting, and a Google Business Profile set to an unclear category with almost no reviews. Organic traffic sat at 56 visits a month — enough to prove people were looking, nowhere near enough to fill a schedule.
What we actually did, and when.
Week 1 — audit
Went through the existing site page by page and found the real problems: one thin page trying to cover every service, no city or neighborhood targeting anywhere, and a Google Business Profile filed under a generic "automotive" category instead of "Mobile mechanic."
Weeks 2–4 — fixes and rebuild
Built dedicated pages for each service — brakes, batteries, diagnostics, oil changes — added LocalBusiness and Service schema, wrote unique titles and descriptions for every page, corrected the Business Profile category, and set the service-area radius properly around Summerville.
Month 1 — 56 to 174 visits
First map-pack appearances for "mobile mechanic Summerville SC" and related searches. Monthly visits more than tripled off the 56-visit baseline in the first full month after the changes went live.
Month 2 — approaching 300
A post-job review request went out after every completed call, which kept pushing the map-pack ranking up. The current month is tracking toward roughly 300 visits, and SEMrush now counts 163 ranking keywords for the site with an estimated $980 in monthly organic traffic value.
What this looked like for real customers.
A Nexton homeowner with a dead battery
Found the business through a "mobile battery replacement Summerville" map-pack result, booked same-day, and left a review the same afternoon — exactly the loop the new review workflow was designed to create.
A Goose Creek shift worker who couldn't get to a shop
Searched "mechanic that comes to you" on a lunch break and found a dedicated diagnostics service page explaining exactly how mobile visits work, instead of a shop's generic homepage.
The takeaways that apply beyond mobile mechanics.
Category accuracy compounds
Correcting a single wrong Google Business Profile category was one of the highest-leverage single changes made in month one.
Review velocity beats review count
A steady trickle of fresh reviews mattered more to rankings than a one-time push for a large number all at once.
